Searching the Gila County Court Docket
Name the court first, not just the county. The Arizona Judicial Branch Public Access service searches most participating Arizona courts. You can search it by name or case number. Gila County Superior Court handles felonies and broad civil matters. County misdemeanors, early felony proceedings, small claims, lower civil matters, and county traffic belong to Globe or Payson Regional Justice Court. City cases need a municipal filter. Public Access is free. Treat it as an informational index, updated weekly, not the official record.
The exact case number speeds things up. Keep the letter prefix intact, as in TR 19010111. Apply the court filter so similar numbers do not blur together. A name search requires a last or business name, and a first name narrows it. Check the result for the full court name and the filing date. Look for the status, party roles, and the newest event too. If a Superior Court document is public and falls within coverage, move from the free history to eAccess. Otherwise, contact the court that holds the file.
- Identify Superior, regional justice, or municipal jurisdiction from the citation, filing, or prior notice.
- Open Public Access, complete its verification word, and choose name or case-number search.
- Select the specific Gila County court and preserve the full prefix and number.
- Read the newest event and setting, then use eAccess for an eligible document image.
- Ask the correct clerk for a plain or certified copy when the web record is not enough.
Two Gila County Docket Portals
These are two different products. The free history gives you a case identity block and dated events. Arizona eAccess sells document images. Coverage runs from Superior Court civil and criminal filings made on or after July 1, 2010. Electronic certification costs extra. And probate, juvenile, sealed, and other restricted material does not become public just because eAccess exists.
The official Gila County courts page stays the stable starting point for local court links whenever a vendor address changes. Bookmark it.
That county entry point ties the local court structure to the statewide docket search. It also spares you a stale saved calendar address.
| Channel | Best Use | Main Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Public Access | Free case index and history | Weekly, incomplete, and not official |
| eAccess | Eligible Superior Court document images | Paid and limited by date and case type |
| Court clerk | Official file, older record, or certification | Correct custodian and current fee must be confirmed |
Inside a Gila County Court Docket
Arizona labels the public event list a case history. That is what most people mean by a Gila County court docket. The opening block names the court, the case number, the case type, the filing date, and a broad status. Party roles follow. In criminal matters, charge and count details may follow too. From there the history runs by date. It logs filings, hearings, minute entries, orders, dispositions, and later activity in order. A hearing entry only schedules. It is not a ruling. The court's operative language lives in a signed order or judgment.
The Gila County Superior Court overview describes the general-jurisdiction court behind those files. Felony, civil, family, probate, and juvenile matters all sit there.
The court overview supplies the local context that a bare statewide result cannot show.
| Case Number | Exact prefix and number used to distinguish the file and court. |
|---|---|
| Case History | Dated filings, hearings, minute entries, orders, and other events. |
| Setting | Date, time, division, judge, and hearing type when published. |
| Status | Broad open, pending, disposed, or closed label that does not replace count-level detail. |
| Disposition | Outcome recorded for a count, claim, or case; confirm it in the judgment when needed. |
Gila County Dockets Span Two Hubs
Mountains split Gila County court service in two. Globe anchors the south. Payson serves the north. The official alternative-juror plan draws the boundary at the Theodore Roosevelt Lake Bridge, putting Globe, Miami, San Carlos, and places generally south of it in the southern community. That split shapes justice precincts, jury districts, clerk contact, and where a hearing may land.
A Gila County case label alone will not tell you whether the next setting sits in Globe or Payson. The assigned court and division do. The Globe Regional Justice Court page documents the southern limited-jurisdiction route.
The Globe page is the direct fallback for southern county misdemeanors, civil traffic, preliminary felony events, and other justice matters. The Payson Regional Justice Court page does the same routing for the north. Think of them as one pair.
Its separate clerk contact matters, because limited-jurisdiction files are not held by the Superior Court clerk.
Courts That Keep Dockets in Gila County
Arizona stacks its courts in tiers. The Arizona Supreme Court sits at the top, then the Court of Appeals and Superior Court, down to the limited-jurisdiction courts. Gila County Superior Court has two divisions. Its general-jurisdiction files live with the Gila County Clerk of the Superior Court. Globe and Payson Regional Justice Courts keep their own dockets. Municipal courts hold city ordinance, misdemeanor, and traffic matters. That stays true even when an intergovernmental agreement shares staff, a judge, a phone line, or case administration.
| Court | Docket Covers | Custodian |
|---|---|---|
| Gila County Superior Court | Felony, broad civil, domestic, probate, juvenile, and authorized appeals | Gila County Clerk of the Superior Court |
| Globe Regional Justice Court | Southern misdemeanor, preliminary felony, limited civil, small claims, and county traffic | Globe Regional Justice Court clerk |
| Payson Regional Justice Court | Northern limited-jurisdiction cases and county traffic | Payson Regional Justice Court clerk |
| Municipal courts | City misdemeanor, ordinance, and municipal traffic cases | Named city court or its administering court |
One felony can leave two histories. The first appearance may happen in a regional justice court. Later prosecution gets a new Superior Court number. A limited-jurisdiction appeal also creates Superior Court events without erasing the original city or justice docket.
Gila County Docket Update Lag
Public Access updates on Friday. It reflects data through Wednesday. A fresh filing or a late-week reset can therefore exist at the court before it appears online, and the lag bites hardest when a Gila County court date is near. Read the newest history entry, open any minute entry or signed order, and then call the assigned court. After a continuance, the old setting stays in the history, so the first date you see may not be the one that controls.
A motion to continue is only a request. The request alone moves nothing. Granting it takes a signed order, a minute entry, or current confirmation from the court. And a public video link is a viewing route, not permission to appear by video.
Near-term setting: treat the online history as a lead and ask the named court to confirm Arizona time, courtroom, appearance method, and whether a newer order controls.
How to Find Court Dates and Settings
Work four channels in order. Start with the newest setting in the case history, then the calendar linked from the current county courts page, then the state hearings directory, and finally direct confirmation with the court. A calendar entry lists a date, time, division, judicial officer, case number, caption, and hearing type. It does not prove the setting survived a reset.
Continuances confuse everyone. For the full local workflow, the Gila County court dates page explains how to read continuances, cancellations, and hearing fields.
- Reset or continuance
- The setting moved; the old event stays in the history.
- Vacated
- The former setting no longer controls as stated by the court.
- Minute entry
- The court's written memorial of a hearing or ruling.
- Status conference
- A progress and case-management setting, not necessarily a trial.
Gila County Dockets Changed Format
Gila County court records live in layers. Paper came first, then fiche, then 16mm and 35mm film. Only later came statewide case information and paid document images. Digitization never fully caught up. A 2015 county record noted aging film readers and old criminal files that were still only partly digitized. That history matters for a docket search today. An older file can stay in the clerk's custody. It may never show up in remote document access. When a case seems missing, ask about archival film, a terminal, or staff retrieval.
A newer layer covers the limited-jurisdiction courts. E-filing reached Globe and Payson Regional Justice Courts through AJACS and Arizona TurboCourt. Official information sets that start on February 26, 2024. Attorneys were mandated to e-file there beginning August 1, 2025. Technology plans also mention digital fingerprint links, warrant distribution, and courtroom audiovisual work. So one Gila County court docket may split across filing eras. Each era has its own access path.
Public Access to Court Dockets
Arizona Supreme Court Rule 123 governs who can see judicial records in Gila County and everywhere else in the state. The rule begins with a presumption of openness. Still, it allows limits for confidentiality, privacy, court operations, and certain named record categories. Remote access can therefore be narrower than walking into the courthouse and asking to inspect a file. When a routine docket lookup comes up empty, sharpen the request. Do not blame the clerk. Identify the exact court and custodian. Give the case number and the date of the document. Say whether you want inspection or copies, and ask for a fee estimate up front. A request framed that way gets results. Asking the clerk to dig into a legal question for you does not.
Key access rules:
Arizona Supreme Court Rule 123 governs judicial case-record access, restrictions, fees, and review of denials.
A.R.S. § 13-911 provides a petition process for eligible criminal record sealing; sealing is not automatic.
A.R.S. § 36-2862 separately governs qualifying marijuana-record expungement and sealing.
Some records never reach a remote docket search at all. The state system excludes sealed cases, protection orders, mental-health and probate matters, victim or witness data, juvenile delinquency information, and local ordinance charges. So a blank result does not prove the record is gone. It may simply sit outside what the system will show.
Gila County Docket Custody Map
No single office holds every Gila County court record. The Clerk of Superior Court keeps Superior Court files. Those cover felony, civil, domestic, probate, juvenile, and related matters. Regional justice courts hold their own case files. Municipal files stay with the named city court or the regional court administering that docket. Getting this right matters. A mailed request sent to the wrong office cannot be filled. The mail just comes back. The state Superior Court clerk directory confirms the official Gila clerk route.
The directory helps when a county page moves, though the court name in a result still tells you which custodian holds the file. For direct lines in Globe and Payson, the judiciary also maintains a Gila clerk contact directory.
Pick the branch that matches where your case was filed and you may spare yourself a long drive across Gila County.
Docket Records at the Clerk's Office
Filings, case events, minute entries, and orders all flow through the Gila County Clerk of the Superior Court. The clerk also issues plain and certified copies for Superior Court matters. The main record counter sits in Globe at 1400 E. Ash Street, Globe, Arizona 85501. Call 928-402-8866 before you go. Travelers headed to the Payson branch can ring 928-474-3978 instead. Remodel work ran into 2025, so confirm the northern counter's location first.
The official Gila County Clerk of Superior Court page lays out the office's role. It also lists current channels for getting court records.
Check the clerk page before you mail anything, since payment, copy fees, and turnaround times can shift.
Gila County Court Docket Help
Self-represented litigants have another stop in Gila County. That is the law library and self-help center at the Globe courthouse. Reach it at 928-402-8768. Staff there can point you toward court resources. They cannot give legal advice or stand in for the clerk assigned to your case. When you need a certified docket, judgment, or case document, the clerk is still the place to go. Rules on security screening and devices vary. So ask before photographing a record or bringing equipment into a courtroom.
The Arizona law-library and self-help directory lists the Gila County resource.
When a local clerk's contact page is hard to pin down, that same state-level listing gives Gila County readers a dependable way in.
Gila County Docket Court Leadership
A division number can matter as much as the county name on a Gila County docket entry. Judicial calendars often stretch across several case types at once. Presiding Judge Timothy M. Wright took office in 2015, according to his official biography, and has handled criminal, civil, juvenile, dependency, probate, and domestic matters. Assignments shift over time, though. Before relying on a name pulled from an older order, check the current calendar and court contact. The Arizona judiciary's Gila presiding-judge page shows the official division and contact details for the county's presiding judge.
That page helps you spot the right court. But a specific setting still turns on the newest case history or a clerk's confirmation. Division assignments also clear up a common puzzle. Two hearings in the same courthouse can list different judicial officers because they sit in different divisions. So write down the division first. Check the most recent Gila County docket entry before you call. That habit matters most when the published calendar spans more than one case category.
Gila County Court Dockets by City
Payson, Globe, Star Valley, Miami, and Hayden rank as the five largest incorporated places in Gila County. That count comes from the 2020 Census. Each municipal court keeps its own city docket for ordinance, misdemeanor, and traffic cases. Shared administration does not merge them. Payson and Star Valley use the northern regional contact system. Meanwhile, Miami runs through the Globe regional setup, and Hayden keeps a direct extension of its own. One caution for docket search users: a local ordinance charge may not appear in Public Access. So the city court or its administering clerk is the required fallback.
Payson Docket Search
Municipal and regional courts share a northern contact channel but keep separate case identities.
Globe Docket Search
The county seat includes Superior, regional justice, and municipal record routes.
Star Valley Docket Search
Municipal citations remain Star Valley cases despite shared Payson administration.
Miami Docket Search
Miami keeps its municipal court identity while using Globe regional administration.
Hayden Docket Search
Hayden Municipal Court retains a distinct phone and city docket.
Map and Directions to the Gila County Courthouse
Superior Court case files, certified copies, and older criminal microfilm are kept at the Globe courthouse, 1400 E. Ash Street, in downtown Globe. Because Gila County's mountain geography splits it into northern and southern communities, this Globe counter serves the southern jurisdiction — Globe, Miami, San Carlos, and the area generally south of the Theodore Roosevelt Lake Bridge — while a separate branch in Payson serves the north. The county law library and self-help center shares the same Globe address.
Public users should expect security screening at the courthouse and should ask before photographing records or using a device in a courtroom. The Payson branch also hears Gila County Superior Court matters, but its exact current street address should be reconfirmed with the county because remodel work there continued into 2025.
